Frequently Asked Questions
-
I know Tufflinx is a modified Pelican case, but what's a Pelican case?
Pelican makes one of the most indestructible cases on the market today; that's why we chose it. Find out more: Pelican.com.
-
What do I need to attach the Tufflinx?
You need a standard 1.25" hitch receiver,
-
Can't I just strap the Tufflinx to my rack?
Absolutely. It fits perfectly on a 16" rack.
-
Can I mount two cases on a bike?
Trikes and cars only, otherwise you would obstruct your rear lights.
-
Suppose the receiver on my motorcycle is vertical?
Believe it or not, that's more often the case...That's why we offer the Tufflinx VP (vertical package). See order page.
-
What are my color options... can the Tufflinx be painted?
We don't recommend it, but if you're determined to give it a shot we recommend you consult a professional.
-
Do they make a hitch for my car or bike?
More than likely, but check here www.hitch-web.com. Trikes and bikes check here: www.dauntlessmotors.com. Then call us for the best price.
-
Isn't the hitch going to affect the "look" of my sports car?
Probably not, most are designed to be inconspicuous.
-
My bike doesn't have a hitch...what's that gonna cost me?
Motorcycle kits start as low as $160 + freight...depending on the model. We don't stock these kits, but we can save you $$ by arranging shipment directly from the source.
-
Doesn't the Tufflinx cover the rear license plate?
Yes, as do bike racks and other hitch oriented accessories. We're sure you'll be tempted to leave it on but it's designed for temporary transport. If you're hyper-concerned, you may easily attach a copy of your tag to the case facade by using velcro or an adhesive back packing slip pouch.
-
The case to adapter interface seems tight?
It's designed to be snug and will loosen after a few insertions
-
Will there be "play" in the hitch receiver... and what can I do about it?
Slight variations in receivers (design, manufacturer, etc..) determine the amount of "toggle" they allow. Our Stabilizing Hitch-pin totally eliminates this toggle and provides a solid framework for your Autolinx. See how it works...
